I just love the afterbirth bath I had in my birth kit. So much so that for my second home birth I doubled up on the amount of herbal mix I ordered.
It's still one of my favorite things and I wanted to share it with you.
I placed a generous serving of 1 1/2 cups of herbs and sea salt into a large unbleached cotton muslin bag for your convenience.
It feels great and the herbs are wonderful for healing cord and perineum.
Ingredients: Comfrey Leaf, Lavender Flower, Shepherd's Purse, Uva Ursi Leaf, Witch Hazel, Red Rapsberry Leaf, Yarrow Flowers and Sea Salt.
Directions: put 1 cup (you actually have 1 1/2 cup in your bag) of herbs in 2 quarts of boiling water and remove from heat. Let herbs steep for 15-20 minutes. Add to bath water. Feel free to squeeze the bag to get every last drop. Be careful to not dilute too much.
Baby and mom should soak for at least 20 minutes to allow healing to cord and perineum.
It's heaven and such a wonderful bonding time. Enjoy!
It also makes a great gift!
